The week before easter break: 3/22-3/24

03/22/10-Pragmatic Management Movement
1930's is when it all began..
-Don't criticize, condemn, or complain..if there's a problem, fix it..
-give honest and sincere appreciation-thankful
-find out what motivates other people
-How do you make people like you? would you prefer to work with somebody you like or dislike?
-Be genially interested in other people.
-have expression of positiveness-smile
-learn to remember their names, learn how to be a good listener-ask questions
-interest of others, make others feel important
-how to make others think the way you do
-avoid arguments
-respect other people's opinion
-learn a Latin quote here and there: mea-cul pa: I am to be blame.
-start off friendly, let other people talk more
-sympathize with them, appeal their novel side, dramatize your ideas..throw down a CHALLENGE..

i learned a interesting quote..actually haven't heard it in a long time..last time i heard this quote was when i was in middle school.."If it is to be, it is up to me."

another word-mnemonics-its a technique to help you develop or improve memory...

03/24/10-The Room 103 Murder Case
What does my note say..Ron presented a powerpoint on the Room 103 murder case...

The room 103 murder case took place in Itaewan, Korea. This case was written by Harriet Ryan..& it happened on St. Patrick's day 2001. The case details-international students went to Korea for training, and one of the students died in a small motel.
The first investigation of case said she was killed by her room mate. The investigators used da lesbian theory to solve the murder case, but they were all wrong. The case is still unsolved, but the girl wasnt murdered by her room mate. The girls' names are Jamie penich (victim) and Kenzi (her room mate).

The second investigation was proved all evidence were wrong in the first investigation. The first evidence is the autopsy, bruises on the Jamie's body were obvious she was beaten by a military soldier. The two girls went sightseeing with friends, then they all decided to go to bar hopping. Both girls stayed back 2 hrs. and walked back and took the wrong route to the motel. Kenzi checked on Jamie, and she said she was ok..so she went to sleep. The other evidence is the space in the room. One European student said she heard noises coming from room 103 and heard a guy saying..im already here..that's one evidence. The keykeeper also stated that she saw a man exiting the motel and was covered with blood on his pants.

This is what we did today with Ron, during the powerpoint, i felt like Ron was our boss and me and my fellow classmates were investigators talking about how to solve a murder case..i wanted to see the actual pictures of the senerio, and id like to go to the actual place..i really felt i was about to solve a unsolved murder case...

The month of March

St. Patrick's Day

03/10/10- Talked about chapter 2- dealing with government regulations. why is there government regulations because businesses fail to regulate, which is the rationale of regulation- failure of self regulation. ex: tacobell fails to give out toys in the minnie meals.

Everyone is given the responsibility to self regulate.

That is why there is EEO- Equal Employment Opportunities. The business want to keep and protect the environment and have a safe, healthy environment.
EEO also has changed since the 1940's-radically. The civil rights case in 1964 helped made it changed because of issues dealing with employment, discrimination, sexual harrasements.

03/15/10- ADA which is America's Disability Act. Search for US v. UOG case and it talked about more about it. It was a case where Ron involved.
Hawethorne effect- when people know they are being watched or observed, they act differently. The behavior changes significantly.

Does the government need to watch over businesses??..no because they value regulations. They need other agencies to tell them what to do. Job saftey regulations: dangerous american jobs- constructions, fishing in alaska, and being a taxi driver.

#1 factor increasing safety in workplace is to run your own regulations.

03/17/10- Talked more about the book, but also talked about the homicide case where the minors were being charged as adults.
Game theory- El Farol Bar- In Guam two person election results are always in the competitive zone..where people vote for the candidates that are the opposites of what they hate. Similar to the an enemy of my friend is my friend.

Business is a game to win..where making money makes you WIN..just the same as politics- who gets what, where, and how.
